DeveloAID’s expertise in innovative peacebuilding solutions was prominently demonstrated in our role leading the launch of the UNDP Regional Insider Mediation Project. This impactful initiative, focusing on Sudan, Lebanon, and Jordan, was designed to empower Insider Mediators (IMs)—local leaders uniquely positioned to address and mediate conflicts within their communities.
The project established a sustainable regional platform, connecting mediators across national boundaries and equipping them with the tools, resources, and networks needed to foster peace. By prioritizing inclusivity, it created opportunities for women, youth, and marginalized groups to play pivotal roles in conflict resolution. At its core, the initiative sought to elevate insider mediation as a recognized and transformative practice within the Arab States region.
DeveloAID’s founder spearheaded this project with a focus on strategic leadership and innovative program design. We developed frameworks for engaging and training Insider Mediators, ensuring the approach was tailored to the cultural, social, and political contexts of the focus countries. Our role also included conducting workshops and mentoring sessions that enhanced mediators’ skills in areas such as conflict analysis, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement.
The advocacy for inclusivity was central to our work. We ensured the meaningful representation of women, youth, and marginalized groups, addressing their unique needs and enabling their active participation in mediation efforts. Additionally, we established robust knowledge-sharing systems, authoring key Terms of Reference (ToRs) that outlined actionable plans and ensured alignment with strategic objectives.
The project transformed how conflict resolution is approached in the region. It strengthened the recognition of insider mediation as a vital peacebuilding tool, fostering regional collaboration among mediators and creating an environment for sustainable practices. Peer-to-peer exchanges, training programs, and a structured platform enabled mediators to share insights, learn from diverse experiences, and develop innovative solutions tailored to their unique challenges.
Through these efforts, DeveloAID left a lasting legacy by not only advancing peacebuilding but also creating a framework for locally owned and driven conflict resolution. This project exemplifies our ability to navigate complex environments and deliver tailored solutions that have a meaningful, lasting impact on communities and stakeholders alike.
